Chris O’Brien Lifehouse engaged Advent Security to provide a 24/7 security service designed around the operational requirements of the hospital.
The service was established as an ongoing partnership, with the scope developed jointly by Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and Advent Security. Policies and procedures are revisited and adjusted as required as the operating environment changes.
Advent’s onsite security presence provides a practical layer of protection across the hospital environment. Security personnel maintain a visible presence, help control building access, monitor surveillance systems, patrol buildings and external perimeters, and respond to emergencies and disturbances.
The service also supports visitor management, carpark requirements, staff protection and conflict and violence de-escalation. The client notes that the site’s inner-Sydney location can also result in members of the public experiencing homelessness entering the premises, making an onsite security presence an important deterrent.
The security service commenced in 2016 and remains ongoing. It is a long-term relationship in which Advent’s security personnel have developed a strong understanding of what is required on site.
This continuity allows the security team to operate with knowledge of the environment and established expectations, while the service can be adjusted as policies, procedures and operational requirements change.
The client reports a strong long-term relationship with Advent Security and highlights the guards’ understanding of their responsibilities. According to the client, this has contributed to minimal incidents through deterrence and de-escalation tactics.
